Samuel W. “Bill” Boynton III

Mr. Samuel W. “Bill” Boynton III, the son of Samuel and Doris Boynton, was born

June 4, 1957 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended Germantown High School in Philadelphia.

Bill received his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Alabama State University.  Prior to his death, he was working on his doctoral degree at Capella University.

He was a loving and devoted husband, a caring and generous friend, and an exceptional musician.

An avid lover of music and a jazz enthusiast, Bill was a member of Phi Mu Alpha and the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation. He was also an announcer on WVAS radio station at Alabama State University. Often credited with helping to keep jazz alive in the Montgomery community, he developed and taught “Sketches in Jazz,” a program designed to introduce young people to jazz music.

He departed this life on November 6, 2005.

Bill leaves to cherish his memory a beloved wife, Sharon; loving father, Samuel W. “Bill” Boynton Jr.; grandmother, Amelia Boynton Robinson; sister, Chellette (James “Olu”) Henderson; uncle, Bruce Carver Boynton; mother-in-law, Barbara Ward; four brothers-in-law, Leroy (Stacy) Mace, Edward Webb, Reginald (Delores) Webb, and Charles (Tanya) Darby; nieces, Jalila (“Scooter”) Jones, Karima Henderson, Sakinah Henderson, Shay Mace, Keisha Mace, Tiffany Flowers, Charli Darvy; nephews, Anthony Webb, Edward Webb Jr., Corbett Webb, Cordell (Linnete) Webb, Levon Webb, Lunti Webb, Reginald Webb Jr., Marcelle Webb and Charles Darby Jr.; cousins, Jimmy (Ann) Milan, Valerie (Michael) Nicholas, Mark Simmons, Jacqueline Simmons, Aimee Meredith, Carver Boynton, and Kimeu (Jackie) Boynton; and many other devoted relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his mother.

Samuel W. “Bill” Boynton III

You are a precious one from us gone,

A voice we love stilled.

A place is vacant in our hearts

Which never can be filled.

Our hearts will ache with sadness,

Our eyes will shed many tears.

Only God knows how much we’ll miss you

In all the coming years.
